When you were small, did you ever think about what
you intend to do?
One day, I ask my son: “when you grow up, do
you think about what you intend to become?”
My son answered: “Dad, When I grow up, I intend to become
an explorer in the North Pole”.
I feel happy: “That’s wonderful”
My son said: “I’m thinking about training right away.”
I feel very strange: “how to train?”
My son replied: “It is very cold in the North Pole. If I can eat a bucket
of ice cream, then I should be able to adapt myself to the temperature
there.”
Oops! I forgot to write “everyday” at the end of the the sentence
“If I can eat a bucket of ice cream”.
So the sentence should read: “If I can eat a bucket of ice cream everyday”
Hi Cheng ΒoonKuan,
Thanks for your translation.
(In) the future your child thought about doing what?
One day, I ask (my) son: “What do you want to be (when you) grow up?”
(My) son replied: “Dad, I want to be an Arctic explorer when I grow up.”
I was very pleased: “Great!”
(My) son (then) said: “I want to start training immediately.”
I was very surprised: “How (does one) train?”
(My) son replied: “The Arctic is very cold, I (shall) eat a bucket of ice cream every day, where(upon) I will be (able to) adopt to the temperature”.
Hi arthur chen,
For you first sentence, it is not very correct.
– (In) the future your child thought about doing what?
It should be:
When you were small, did you ever think about what you want to do/be in future?
When you were still young, did you know what want to be later?
One day, I asked my child, “When you grow up what do you want to be?”.
My child replied, “Papa I want to become a North Pole explorer”
I said “That’s great!”
My child continued “I will start immediately to train myself”
How odd I thought tis very strange: “How will you prepare yourself?”
My child said:” The North Pole is very cold, I will eat a bucket ice-cream each day,
so I get used to the temperature there.”
