Should I rephrase the sentence as:
“The children ran down the hill at full speed.”
Hi Min Min. Yes, “at full speed” is good. You can see how common these are using Google’s ngram service (https://goo.gl/PCV2yL). Amain was popular in the 17th century, but has gone out of fashion since then.
