  1. Hi

You know I find Chinese like to write and express themsevles in flowery and artistic language since time immemorial.

    Can this sentence “掌 握 一 门 外 语 并 不 容 易 ” be simplified and said in another way
    such as “要 学 一门 外语,真 是 好 不 容 易? What is the difference?

    Again another sentence ” 还 能 抽 空 做 兼 职 赚 外 快” Why is “外 快” [outside fast] so called extra income?

  2. Dear Βωων Κυαν [文 光],

Allow me to answer your question 让我给你回答

zhǎng wò yī mén wài yǔ bìng bù róng yì
    掌握一门外语并不容易
To grasp (understand fully) a foreign language is absolutely not a easy matter.

yào xué yī mén wài yǔ zhēn shì hǎo bù róng yì
    要学一门外语,真是好不容易
(if one wants)To study a foreign language, that truly is not easy

So in essence both sentences have the same meaning.

wài kuài 外 快 might come from the fact that you earn extra money “outside”
your normal work and that you do it “quick”.

I think every language has its own way of expressing them selfes, income means liiterally that what comes in, yo could reason that to spend money is then outcome
but language is not that strict as mathematics for example.

rú guǒ nǐ wài nǐ de zhēn de gōng zuò huán kuài
    如 果 你 外 你 的 真 的 工 作 还 快

kuài dì zuò bié de gōng zuò suǒ yǐ zhōng guó rén
    快 地 做 别 的 工 作 所 以 中 国 人

shuō zhè gè wài gōng zuò gěi nǐ wài kuài
    说 这 个 外 工 作 给 你 外 快

Have you ever heard of 痛快 tòng kuài meaning very happy, litterally “pain fast” …..

    Wel

below. Can you please explain in English to me?

    如 果 你 外 你 的 真 的 工 作 还 快
    快 地 做 别 的 工 作 所 以 中 国 人
    说 这 个 外 工 作 给 你 外 快

    Regards.

  4. Maybe I did’nt write it correctly,

    littereally

    如 果 你 外 你 的 真 的 工 作 还
if you outside your real job also/still
    快 快 地 做 别 的 工 作 ( 所 以 ) 中 国 人
quickly do other work (therfore) Chinamen
    说 这 个 外 工 作 给 你 外 快
say this outside work gives you “Extra Income”

    I have eroneously used 所 以 I think.

Did you know Chinese has three different particles all pronounced “de”?
They are 的, 得 and 地. The first one is used for possesives and to make adjectives like 我的书 – 漂亮的姑娘, the second one is used as an attribute like 他说话说得很快 and theb third one is used to make adverbs like 他努努力力地学习中文 (地 is actually written as di but pronounced as de)

Hope you can understand what I have written.

  9. 我 很 敬 尊 这 种 人.
    Hi 文光。
I was reading the email exchanges between you and Lulanke for learning purpose.Definitely, your Chinese level is much much higher than me. I tried to read your Chinese sentences with the help of google translator. I think, 敬尊 should be 尊敬 for the meaning of respect or revere.I have no intention to find faults of others. Please correct me if I am wrong. I will not be offended. My only intention is to help other learners and get help from others.
    Wish you the best.
    Larry
