    One thing for discussion: about 事物, I feel “object” is countable so not a very good translation, “matter” may be better. But I am not an expert on either language, so I may be wrong.

      Regarding 事物, from wikipedia (http://zh.wiktionary.org/zh-hans/事物) :
      客观存在于自然界的一切物体或现象。

      My wild guess is 事物 = 事情 + 物体。

      And from Google dictionary,

      事物 and 事情

      I think “thing” is a more suitable word to describe “事物”, but “object” and “matter” are not wrong also.
