  1. In reference to 今天晚上我们 得加班. I’ve noticed through your helpful website,

    得 “de” is usually used as verb/adjective + 得 + adverb.

In this situation, it’s pronoun 我们 “We” + 得 + Adverb “加班.” Hence an exception to the rule above as it does not apply, in addition, the tone is different.

With 得 having many usage like any other Chinese characters = 得 = to have to / must / ought to / to need to.

Should “děi” = 得 rather than “dé” 得?? I’m not sure what’s right??

Many thanks for sharing and I hope you had a wonderful Happy New Year!

May all your wishes come true and may this new year bring you happiness and good health! :):)

    1. Hi Will,
You are right. The pronunciation for 得 should be děi.
Wow! This character is posted about 1 1/2 years ago and you have noticed the mistake I made.
      Thanks.

      1. Thanks for clarification. I’m learning from start to finish on the daily words. 😀 It’ll take me a while to reach up to daily word > #668 XD
